Autumn – Winter 2013 – 14 Couture
An all-round artist in terms of experimental techniqes and contemporary forms of expression from design to Street Art, YLAN ANOUFA, 33, now unveils a bubbling, simmering Couture collection that seems like a laboratory: a ferment of ideas restlessly looking to the future.
His partiality for expressing himself in accomplished clothing is due to anything but luck, after early years spent with a tailor grandfather who had worked with the top couturiers since before the war. Ylan is now carrying on the family business.
A taste for construction, geometries and harmony transmitted through heritage and heredity – with that special something: the ornamental reworking of material as a « splash » on the support, and the free rein he gives his inspired brush.
The collection is first and foremost designed for women in phase with their times, without a hint of bourgeois convention. A streamlined cut with rock-style elegance for a new stylish, determined city woman positively fizzing with energy from morning to night.
The silhouettes created in the Anoufa workshops in Paris mingle wool, sometimes lurex, leather and cashmere with fine Calais lace, or silk with Italian muslin or crêpe de Chine.
Black, grey and silver vary shining, iridescent and metallic sparkle effects. Surprise touches give light and vibrancy to the whole look.
Worth noting: innovative techniques like heat-induced reactive patterns on fabrics with special inks, in partnership with Déco Fashion, and more traditional embroideries featuring Swarovski crystals, feathers and studs.
Accessorisation in lambskin comes with geometric pockets and studded « Baldowski by Anoufa » shoes. Also fresh from Ylan’s imagination, a few masculine « Pako Lorente by Anoufa » silhouettes can be seen ringing the changes among the ladies.
The essence of contemporary glam rock in its purest creative expression.
