Josephine Todd is the founder of Afritali. Josephine was born in Burma Camp Accra, Ghana. Raised in Ghana, by her mother who ran her own textile business, Josephine was exposed to the bold colors and beautiful fabrics of Ghanaian fashion from a young age.
“At the tender age of 10 I was surrounded by the beautiful textiles of Ghana. I always loved the bold colors of the fabrics and the way they made me look and feel. I started sketching and I knew being a designer would be a dream come true.”
Afritali designs infuse the rich culture of authentic Ghanaian prints with the raw yet trendy designs of western society “My design aesthetic was born when I realized I could not walk down the street in my African attire without looking like I just came out of a UN meeting.
I believe there are few women that have had the privilege to grow up in two amazing worlds .
I love to be able to make clothes that express both worlds for every season.”explains the designer.
A newcomer to the fashion world, Afritali, meaning African clothing in Ghanaian dialect, strives to enhance the true essence of a woman: femininity, sexuality and power. “ My goal is to create a way for powerful women living in the west to better express themselves by infusing the richness of fashion.”
